Green and the New Normal

Instead, the pursuit of environmentally responsible and energy-efficient operations is maturing into standard practice.The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) says its Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification system is now a widely legislated requirement in at least 45 states, including 35 state governments, and in at least 14 federal agencies. Even outside of these government LEED projects, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has incorporated the Enterprise Green Communities Criteria Checklist into its qualifications for funds. If desing/construction professionals seek government-funded work, they should be accustomed to successfully implementing green requirements.
