Coldwater Creek Wet Weather Storage Facility, Tank A

Architectural flair to the city's water infrastructure

Coldwater Creek Wet Weather Storage Facility, Tank A
Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District
St. Louis, MO

KAI provided Construction Management services for construction of a Coldwater Creek Wet Weather above ground storage tank for the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District (MSD).

MSD needed increased storage capabilities for flow equalization during wet weather events. The Tank A project included construction of the tank, an influent pumping facility, associated underground piping, odor control system, and primary and backup power supplies.

The Coldwater Creek Wet Weather Storage Facility, Tank A project had special considerations due to the high visibility of the tank’s location. The facility is directly adjacent to I-70 and to Lambert-St. Louis International Airport. Based on these considerations, construction phase activities had to be tightly controlled for noise, dust and cleanliness.

The tank was provided architectural features to mitigate its visual impact on the surrounding areas, and decorative fencing was used to further reduce the imposition of the tank against the landscape.
