Hartmann and Sandoval Selected for Revit Gunslingers

KAI is home to two Revit Gunslingers! Mike Hartmann and Arno Sandoval are both members of this ‘invitation-only’ group for Autodesk. Gunslingers beta test new versions of Revit and this year, Autodesk will be holding two sessions, each with Architecture, MEP, and Structural groups. Mike was one of 16 invitees from across the country for the past two years, and some of his comments and suggestions were incorporated into the final versions of the software. As a member of the Architecture group, this will be Arno’s first year attending. Congratulations guys!

Navisworks - A Practical Application

Case Study: During the construction of Wilmer-Hutchins Elementary School in Dallas, Texas, the contractor had concerns about ceiling clearance for lighting, heat pumps, ductwork, and plumbing. They requested that the ceiling be lowered 12" (from 10' to 9') to accommodate these items.

We were able to easily put the contractor's concerns to rest using Navisworks.

BIM = Collaborative Design

At KAI, having both Design and Build under one roof allows us to collaborate on nearly every aspect of the design and construction process. Collaboration is key to the way we operate, and in fact, is a true competitive advantage. We use BIM tools, such as Revit, to support our collaborative efforts.

The article below, written by Viktor Varkonyi, CEO of Grahpisoft, is a great example of how BIM lends itself perfectly to open collaborative design:
